Thành lập năm 1970, trường Đại Học Sorbonne Nouvelle (USN), tiền thân là khoa Ngữ văn của trường Đại học Tổng hợp Paris. Trường được xây dựng trên nền tảng kế thừa của trường Sorbonne với tinh thần sáng tạo đổi mới lâu dài. 

USN đào tạo các lĩnh vực về Nghệ thuật, Văn học, Ngôn ngữ và Khoa học xã hội : một danh mục các chương trình đào tạo đa ngành ở trình độ cao, được bảo trợ bởi 30 đơn vị nghiên cứu. Trường cấp bằng Cử Nhân, Thạc Sĩ và Tiến Sĩ. Sorbonne Nouvelle cũng thu hút đông đảo các nhà nghiên cứu cũng như sinh viên từ khắp nơi trên thế giới. 

Các chương trình đào tạo mang đến nhiều cơ hội nghề nghiệp đa dạng : ngành giảng dạy và nghiên cứu, ngành xuất bản, tư liệu, nghệ thuật biểu diễn (sân khấu, điện ảnh và nghe nhìn), truyển thông và báo chí, hòa hợp văn hóa, biên phiên dịch, Châu Âu và quốc tế học.

Nhờ vào tinh thần mở cửa quốc tế, USN triển khai chính sách đón tiếp và hoà nhập dành cho sinh viên quốc tế, với số lượng khoảng 25% tổng số sinh viên của trường.

Créée en 1970, l’Université Sorbonne Nouvelle est issue de l’ancienne faculté des lettres de l’Université de Paris. Elle s’est construite à la fois dans l’héritage de la Sorbonne et dans un esprit d’innovation permanente. 

L'USN propose dans le domaine des Arts, Lettres, Langues, et Sciences Humaines et Sociales une large palette de formations pluridisciplinaires de haut niveau adossées à 30 unités de recherche.
