Thành lập vào năm 1875, Đại học Công giáo Lyon là một Cơ sở giáo dục đại học tư đào tạo đa ngành, cung cấp các chương trình đào đào tạo dựa trên hệ thống giáo dục đại học chung LMD của Châu Âu, văn bằng được trường và chính phủ Pháp cấp.

Trường bao gồm 6 khoa (Tư pháp, Chính trị & Xã hội / Kinh tế và Quản lý / Khoa học / Triết học & Nhân văn / Văn học & Ngôn ngữ / Thần học và Khoa học Tôn giáo) và tiếp đón 11.000 sinh viên theo học tại 3 cơ sở, toạ lạc tại trung tâm thành phố Lyon, được chứng nhận là di sản của UNESCO cũng như thành phố Annecy.

Founded in 1875, Lyon Catholic University is a comprehensive university offering programs based on the European degree system, complemented by official diplomas (nationally regulated State diplomas) and other diplomas unique to the university.
